Description

We call this Natural Energy Drink Recipe ‘3GOP‘ for the Grapefruit, Grapes, Ginger, Orange & Pineapple that’s packed in it!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Fresh Pineapple (rind removed – you can leave the core in if you are using the Vitamix… otherwise, remove the core and cut up into chunks before adding it to your conventional blender)
  • 1 Pink Grapefruit (peel removed  – remove seeds only if you are using a conventional blender)
  • 1 Orange (peel removed – remove seeds only if you are using a conventional blender)
  • 1 Large Bunch of Purple Grapes (washed and removed from stem)
    OR
: 2 – 4 Tablespoons of Unsweetened Grape Juice Concentrate if you do not have grapes on hand.
  • 1 Chunk of Fresh Ginger (I use an approx. 1/2″ thick piece – be careful not use too much or it will overpower the drink)
  • 2–4 Cups of Ice

Instructions

  • Place Pineapple, Orange, Grapefruit, Grapes & Ginger into Vitamix
  • If needed, use Tamper to thoroughly puree ingredients starting on Variable Speed 1 and working your way up to Variable Speed 10; then to ‘High’ just until smooth.
  • Add Ice to blended ingredients – being careful not to overflow the Vitamix container.
  • Blend ingredients again starting on Variable Speed 1 and working your way up to Variable Speed 10; then to ‘High’ for approximately 30 seconds (or until everything is well blended and smooth).
  • Turn off Vitamix and you’re ready to go!

Notes

  • For additional electrolytes, try adding a little Coconut Water to the recipe.
  • Store leftover juice in glass canning jars in the Refrigerator for up to 3 days; Or, you pop it into Popsicle molds.

    Hi Erika,

We have been enjoying your recipes & have told so many people about this website. We recently tired to make the 3GOP (in our Blentec) which we learned was WAY too much for 1 run in the blender & had to cut into 2 runs. It was very yummy but my only question is does yours separate? After the drink is made it starts to separate into liquid below & foam on the top. The foam is usually more bitter & if we stir the drink it is more bitter than desired. Can you help give any ideas for us please. We love the drink overall but I don’t want to scare off the family from it as bitter as it currently is coming out.

      Hi Keri!

Thank you for your sweet comments… it made my day! =)

All fresh juice tends to separate (the juice from the fiber – which can seem foamy) if you don’t drink it right away. We usually just shake it up really well, or pop it back into the VitaMix for a quick blend with a couple of ice cubes before drinking the rest.

Anything made with a grapefruit will have a tendency to be bitter. You can improve the flavor with either: more orange, more grapes, or more grape juice concentrate. I also try to stick with buying the pink grapefruit because it is sweeter. Either way, you do want to make it something the whole family can enjoy so it doesn’t go to waste.

      Hope that helps! =)

      God Bless!

    Hi Erika

I was wondering how I would pair this recipe down to fit in a smaller container?? I have a vitamix with the cotainer that fits under the cabinet. I’m thinking I have the 32 oz container.Forgive me if it is easily figured out or easily done. I just got my Vitamix maybe 10 days ago and while your recipe sounds yummy I’m slightly afraid of “painting the kitchen” if you know what I mean. :) I know 64 ounces of juice would do that. Could you clue me in on the amounts that would work in a smaller container. Again forgive me if it is a mind-numbingly simple question. Thanks! :)

      Hi Rebecca!

Your question is a good one! =)

The answer is Yes, you can definitely cut this recipe in half or quarters if you’d like. To start out, I’d try 1/4 Pineapple, 1/4 Grapefruit, 1/2 Orange, 1/2 to 3/4 Cup Grapes, a small cube of Ginger, and a Cup of Ice… you can tweak the recipe to your taste if need be, but this should all fit in the smaller container.

Let me know how it goes! =)
      God Bless!

I hate to waste… Is it safe to eat the eyes of the pineapple? You know, when you’ve peeled it & a small portion of the eyes are still present…

      Aloha Brian!

Yes, you can eat a little bit of the eyes… But be careful, if there’s too much left behind (the brown part), it can be hard to chew. Also, you want to make sure there is no mold or bugs on them. Otherwise, it blends up beautifully in the VitaMix & you’ll never know! =)

      God Bless!
